He received the Certificate of Merit award after he and his wife helped 17 year old Serena Stacy after she was involved in a severe car accident.
"It is an honor, but I believe there are a lot of people out there that do a lot of great things for people in those situations, and maybe their story doesn't get out or they don't have the opportunity,"said award recipient Nathan Lightle to NTV news. "But a lot of people would have done the same thing in that situation. You just do what's right for people and you just try to help people and my wife and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time."
The Red Cross Certificate of Merit award is signed by the President of the United States, and is the highest award bestowed by the organization. Lightle is one of only 12,000 recipients nationwide.
